Our Commitment
Linn County Market is committed to ensuring that its Platform is accessible to people of all abilities. Accessibility is not a feature added at the end; it is a condition of having built the thing at all. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), and we are working toward compliance with WCAG 2.2 where applicable.
Measures We Take
- Standards alignment. We design and develop the Platform with WCAG 2.1 AA as the design target.
- Semantic structure. We use semantic HTML, ARIA roles where appropriate, and keyboard-navigable interactions throughout.
- Color and contrast. We test color contrast ratios against AA thresholds.
- Text alternatives. We require sellers to provide descriptive titles for listings and we encourage descriptive alt text on uploaded photos; system-generated images include alt text by default.
- Resizable text. Pages reflow and remain usable when text is resized up to 200%.
- Captioning. Any video we produce for the Platform is captioned. User-submitted video is not under our editorial control; sellers are encouraged to provide captions where relevant.
- Continuous improvement. We audit accessibility periodically and as part of significant releases.
Known Limitations
We acknowledge the following limitations, which we are working to address:
- Some third-party embeds (e.g., payment processor checkout flows) follow the accessibility standards of their providers, which we do not control;
- User-generated content (listings, photos, descriptions) may not always meet accessibility standards despite our guidance;
- Older listing archives may not have full alt-text coverage.
If you encounter an accessibility issue not listed above, please tell us — feedback is the fastest way to improvement.
